A few lines about the building, the place and when you would like to start. I reply to everything myself, usually from the train.
The most useful first message tells me where the site is, what stands on it now, and roughly when you would like to be living in it. Photographs help; a survey is not needed yet.

Visiting the studio
The studio is one flight up, over the bookshop at 14 Candlemaker Row, five minutes on foot from Waverley. There is no sign on the street; ring the bell marked with a red pencil. If we are going to site afterwards, bring boots, because I will.
Post can go to the same address. Drawings for existing projects are issued by email as numbered sets, and every sheet has my number in the title block if a builder needs to reach me from a scaffold.
